Heavy metals removal/stabilization from municipal solid waste incineration fly ash: a review and recent trends

چکیده
Abstract Waste treatment using thermal technologies, such as incineration, leads to the production of pollutants and wastes, including fly ash (FA). Fly contains heavy metals (HMs) other contaminants can potentially pose high risks environment negatively impact health safety. Consequently, stabilizing prior either use or landfilling is crucial. The toxicity through metal leaching be assessed tests. rates primarily depend on surrounding conditions well properties speciation. Physical separation, extraction, solidification/chemical stabilization are proposed suitable approaches for treatment. Economic considerations, environmental concerns, energy consumption processing times define efficiency selection approach. This review considers latest findings compares advantages shortcomings different methods with aim highlighting recent advances in field. concludes that simultaneous implementation various lead highly efficient removal/stabilization while simultaneously taking economic considerations into account.

Phosphorus recovery from municipal solid waste incineration fly ash.
The potential of phosphorus (P) recycling from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) residue is investigated. Vast and ever increasing amounts of incineration residues are produced worldwide; these are an environmental burden, but also a resource, as they are a major sink for the material flows of society. Due to strict environmental regulations, in combination with decreasing landfilling s...
متن کاملLeachability of Heavy Metals from Lightweight Aggregates Made with Sewage Sludge and Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Fly Ash
Lightweight aggregate (LWA) production with sewage sludge and municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash is an effective approach for waste disposal. This study investigated the stability of heavy metals in LWA made from sewage sludge and MSWI fly ash. Leaching tests were conducted to find out the effects of MSWI fly ash/sewage sludge (MSWI FA/SS) ratio, sintering temperature and sinteri...
متن کاملEnvironmental Management of Fly Ash Produced from the Incineration of Municipal Solid Waste
Incineration is a widely used and well established technology for the municipal solid waste (MSW) management. Modern MSW incineration plants are equipped with improved air pollution control (APC) systems, which reduce pollutants well below the established limits. The environmental concern has, thus, moved from the air emissions to the solid residues generated from the APC systems of the inciner...
متن کاملSpeciation of copper in the incineration fly ash of a municipal solid waste.
The speciation of copper and zinc in the incineration fly ash of a municipal solid waste in Taiwan was investigated in the present work. By the least-squares fitted X-ray absorption near edge structural (XANES) spectroscopy, we found that CuCO3, CuOH2, and CuO (fractions of 0.09, 0.39 and 0.51, respectively) were the main copper species in the fly ash. Quantitative analysis of the extended X-ra...
متن کاملCarbonation of Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Fly Ash and the Impact on Metal Mobility
Fly ash from municipal solid waste incineration ~MSWI! is considered as hazardous waste that calls for a robust, reliable, and reasonable treatment technique. This investigation aims to assess the impact of CO2 partial pressure, water addition, time, and temperature on the stabilization of MSWI fly ash with particular emphasis on Pb, Zn, Cd, and Cr. Carbonation and element mobility were studied...
